FIRST TIME RUNNING SYSLOAD

In the event of a new Sysload installation:

  • The license file is for Sysload Token Server (Sysload license server).
If Sysload Token Server has not been installed before receiving the license file:
  1. Copy the license file to a temporary directory.
  2. Launch Token Server setup program and give the path to the file "sldtkd.lic" file when prompted.

If Sysload Token Sever is already installed:

  1. Copy the license file in the directory "<sysload>/sldtkd".
  2. Open the Windows services panel.
  3. Start the service "Sysload Token Server".

BACKUP THE CURRENT LICENSE FILE

It is recommended to make a backup copy of the file that has the memory of the current stock of tokens.

Procedure:

  1. Stop Token Server.
  2. Make a backup copy of the "sldtkd.dat" file located in the directory "<sysload>/sldtkd".
  3. Start Token Server.

Important note:

  • By a "copy" it is meant an actual duplication of the file.
  • The original file must remain untouched.
  • The original file must not be moved.
  • The original file must not be renamed.

Example on Windows:

  1. Open the Windows services panel.
  2. Stop the service "Sysload Token Server".
  3. Open the file explorer.
  4. Go to the directory "<sysload>\sldtkd".
  5. Select the file "sldtkd.dat".
  6. Select the menu item "Edit" > "Copy".
  7. Select the menu item "Edit" > "Paste".
  8. Go back to the Windows services panel.
  9. Start the service "Sysload Token Server".

Example on Unix or Linux:

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Go to the directory "<sysload>/sldtkd".
  3. Stop Token Server (command "<sysload>/admin/sysload.sh stop token_server").
  4. Make a copy of the file "sldtkd.dat" (example "cp sldktd.dat sldtkd.dat.old").
  5. Start Token Server (command "<sysload>/admin/sysload.sh start token_server").

CHECK THE NEW TOKEN SERVER STATUS

Procedure:

  1. Open an Web browser.
  2. Go to address http://TOKEN_SERVER:9557.
  3. Click on license status and check the versions managed (it should say up to x.xx).
  4. Go back to the home page.
  5. Click on Token Status.
  6. Check the stock of tokens is according to the Sysload farm to be run.

If Sysload programs were holding tokens before updating the license file, check these are still known by Token Server (column "Given" greater than 0 and agents listed in the second table).

RESTORE PROCEDURE IN CASE OF A PROBLEM

In case of error (e.g. wrong IP address) and if there was a file "sltkd.dat" that was backed up:

  1. Stop Token Server.
  2. Restore the original file "sldtkd.dat".
  3. Start Token Server.
  4. Validate Token Server is still operational (see above).
Additional Information:
We advise to make daily backups of the sldtkd.dat.
Good idea is to keep the last 7 backups.
