Six digit job numbers were introduced in JES z/OS 1.2 and were supported in Advantage CA-Roscoe Interactive Environment 6.0 with Genlevel 0204.

The Advantage CA-Roscoe Interactive Environment apar numbers are QO10856, QO02270 (included at genlevel 0204 and higher). It also requires that you copy the following members:

from the CAI.RO60.KEYS file of the install tape. (See also CA Advantage Roscoe Informational Notice QI16363).

You should also be aware that you may both display and change the length of the job sequence number.

The JES command

$d activate

will display the level of the JES2 checkpoint file in the system log.
A return value of Z2 indicates that a 6-digit job number is active while a return value of OS/390 RELEASE 4 indicates that a 5-digit job number is active.

To change from one level to the other enter the $activate JES command

e.g. $activate,level=Z2

This will change all jobs to 6 character job numbers.

RPF's that depend on 5 digit job numbers will need to be modified. The DISPLAY command output has changed to support the new length field. QO77487 is needed after upgrading to SP08 or after applying QO70999 ROSGLB - Add Support for z/OS V1R7.
