Symptoms:

SQL-607 when trying to edit a catalog table.

SQLCODE = -607, ERROR:  OPERATION OR OPTION LOCK IS NOT
DEFINED FOR THIS OBJECT

Environment:

DB2 – all releases

Cause:

The SQLCODE = -607 has most often been seen when editing with Update Method = P (positional) and the field 'Lock Table for Edit' field set to Y.

Resolution:

Overwrite ‘Update Method’ and set it to S or D.

Both fields are shown on the ‘RC/Edit Options’ panel.

rcedit options2.BMP

Additional Information:

You can change the default value by issuing command ‘PROFILE’ then select option 3 -  RC/Edit Profile Variables.

The ‘'Lock Table for Edit' field is defined in member RCEDIT in the highlvl.CDBAPARM library.

The default values can also be set in member DEFAULTS in the CDBAPARM library.
