Configure the SNMP agent on the Matrix E7 device so that traps are generated. Be sure to designate the SpectroSERVER as the destination of the traps. When the board fails, the device will send a trap specific to the Board Failure to the SpectroSERVER. The trap may need to be mapped (view the Event Configuration Guide (doc 5188.pdf for information on mapping traps.)
SPECTRUM generated a "Bad Link Detected" alarm instead of a "Board Failed" alarm for an Enterasys Matrix E7 switch when one of the boards failed.

Causes of this problem:
The board was modeled as an interface on the Matrix E7 model in SPECTRUM. This interface was being monitored by SPECTRUM so when the board could no longer be contacted, SPECTRUM properly generated a "BAD LINK DETECTED" alarm. The SNMP agent on the device was not set up to generate traps and send them to the SpectroSERVER.
