ISSUE: Spectrum asserts a Management Agent Lost alarm every poll cycle for Cisco ECDS1100 devices
CAUSE: During the poll cycle, Spectrum is querying the device via snmp for information. The Cisco ECDS1100 devices are not responding at all for attributes that are not supported causing Spectrum to think the poll has failed. If the device does not support a specific mib attribute Spectrum is querying, the device needs to respond with something, such as "NoSuchName" or "EndofMib". If Spectrum does not receive a response to a query, Spectrum will retry according to the DCM timeout and retry. If no response is ever received, Spectrum will then generate a "Management Agent Lost" alarm (assuming the device responds to the ICMP ping Spectrum sends).
RESOLUTION: Upgrade the firmware on the Cisco ECDS1100 devices to at lease 2.6.5 S4 (build b902 Sep 28 2015). After upgrading the firmware, the devices will respond to Spectrum for attributes that are not supported. Spectrum will recognize the device does not support those attributes and will not generate the Management Agent Lost alarm.
