SNMP self-cert functionality for non-pollable OIDs

Issue:

OIDs from a F5 Network simulation device returns the values the customer is interested in adding in the self-cert portlet:

ltmPoolStatusName

Selected Pool Connections “Metric Family”, due to the fact that this family has two Metrics of a “string type:

·        Assigned them in the next screen for the following:

“ltmPoolStatusName” to metric “Descriptions”

“ltmPoolStatusAvaiState” to metric “Total Connections”

“ltmPoolStatusDetailedReason” to metric “Names”

And deployed the certification – F5Pool.-xml.

 

·        From snmpcollector, the F5Pool is deployed:

But, unfortunately, there is no information pointing to any of the two strings assigned to the metrics :

“ltmPoolStatusDetailedReason” to metric “Names”

And

“ltmPoolStatusName” to metric “Descriptions”

 

·        If executed a vendor test against any of the pools, see the 3 values configured:

But don’t have the option to map it correctly against the template:

Resolution:
When we create Vendor Certifications (through the self-cert portlet), both pollable and non-pollable metrics are displayed since the OID exists in the MIB.

This does not necessarily active on the device.

The difference is that non-pollable metrics are displayed in the self-cert GUI however only pollable metrics generate QOS.

The impact of this is that non-pollable metrics will show up in self-cert, but fail when trying to complete the process since the device is not using the OID.

To verify, use either snmpwalk or sapwalk to query the device and OID to see if it’s active and returning data.
