Sigma portal login taking a long time to load

Issue:
When logging into Identity Portal each login takes around 30 seconds. We used the Network debugger from the browser and noticed that the profile is taking the excessive time to load. How can we improve our login speeds?
Environment:
Identity Portal 1.6.1
Resolution:
When trying to improve login performance, more specifically with the profile, I would recommend looking for any unnecessary provisioning roles (or other roles that are loaded with the user) to see if they can be removed. For example, any test roles that were only needed for a short time period. 

In addition I would recommend upgrading to a later version of the product as 1.6.1 Will be End of Life by October 2018.
