Symptoms

Not all matching objects appear in selectiondrop-down. 


Explanation

In the Service Orchestrator, when you need to enter an object name (whencreating an Automation Engine SLA or an action that triggers an object on SLAviolation), a selection drop-down appears with objects that match the textstring that you entered. You would expect the list to include all possiblematches, however, this is not necessarily true.

The number of objects that thesystem searches is limited (typically to 1000). This means that only the first,for example, 1000 object are searched for a match. So, if your object is not among the first1000, it will not appear in the drop-down.


Resolution

You can increase the limit in the Automation Engine UC_SYSTEM_SETTINGS variable in its GENERIC_SEARCH_LIMIT setting. This should not be set too high, however, because if the Automation Engine tries to present a huge number of objects, this can block system resources for all users of the same Automation Engine server connection.
