Question:

Is it possible to get the Selenium Driver's log when invoking the selenium integration test case with Internet Explorer?
If yes, please explain how to do that.

Answer:

Please do the following steps:

  1. Open the selenium-config.json file by using a text editor
    Windows      <Installation Folder for DevTest>\selenium-config.json
    If the selenium-config.json file does not exist, then copy from <Installation Folder for DevTest>\_selenium-config.json file and use it.
  2. Look for the definition "webdriver.ie.driver.logfile" inside the "System_Properties" definition at "IE" part
  3. If you want to get the log file as IEDriverServer.log file in the c:\temp folder, then change from
          {
             "name": "webdriver.ie.driver.logfile",
             "value": "<default>"
          },
       to
          {
             "name": "webdriver.ie.driver.logfile",
             "value": "c:\\temp\\IEDriverServer.log"
          },
       and save the selenium-json.conf file.
  4. Restart the DevTest components and invoke the selenium integration test case.
Additional Information:

When you get the Selenium Driver's log from IE Driver, you can set the log level for the logs as below:
TRACE, DEBUG, INFO, WARN, ERROR, or FATAL (default is FATAL)
If you want to change the log level for the Selenium Driver's log from IE Driver, then you can change this part:
      {
         "name": "webdriver.ie.driver.loglevel",
         "value": "<default>"
      },
to change the log level from the default value(FATAL).
