Question:

Is it possible to get the Selenium Driver's log when invoking the selenium integration test case with Firefox?
If yes, please explain how to do that.

Answer:

Yes. Please do the following steps:

  1. Open the selenium-config.json file by using a text editor
    Windows      <Installation Folder for DevTest>\selenium-config.json
    Linux/UNIX   <Installation Directory for DevTest>/selenium-config.json
    If the selenium-config.json file does not exist, then copy from <Installation Folder for DevTest>\_selenium-config.json file and use it.
  2. Look for the definition "webdriver.firefox.logfile" inside the   "System_Properties" definition at "FireFox" part
       "Web_Drivers": {
          "Firefox": {
             "Class_Name": "org.openqa.selenium.firefox.FirefoxDriver",

             "System_Properties": [
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.bin",
                   "value": "<default>"
                },
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.profile",
                   "value": "<default>"
                },
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.log.file",
                   "value": "<default>"
                },
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.logfile",
                   "value": "<default>"
                },
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.reap_profile",
                   "value": "<default>"
                }
             ],
  3. If you want to get the log file as FFDriverServer.log file in the c:\temp folder in Windows OS, then change from
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.logfile",
                   "value": "<default>"
                },
       to
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.logfile",
                   "value": "c:\\temp\\FFDriverServer.log"
                },
       If you want to get the log file as FFDriverServer.log file in the /tmp directory in Linux/UNIX OS, then change from
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.logfile",
                   "value": "<default>"
                },
       to
                {
                   "name": "webdriver.firefox.logfile",
                   "value": "/tmp/FFDriverServer.log"
                },
       and save the selenium-json.conf file.
  4. Restart the DevTest components and invoke the selenium integration test case.
