Introduction:

These messages occur in the Postgres APM Database log:

[4824-cemdb-postgres-2013-04-21 00:02:16.304 COT]LOG: unexpected EOF on
client connection
[4824-cemdb-postgres-2013-04-21 00:02:16.319 COT]LOG: disconnection:
session time: 0:00:07.254 user=postgres database=cemdb host=10.10.10.10 port=53862
[5996-cemdb-postgres-2013-04-21 00:02:16.319 COT]LOG: could not receive data from client: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Question:

Are the "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" messages something that I should be worried about?

Environment:
All supported APM and Postgres releases.
Answer:

This error sometimes happens in healthy environments.

It is due usually to momentary loss of connectivity or connection drop. APM is designed to retry queries. If we are not able to retrieve data from the database for a brief time, there will be no functional loss.

This error can usually be ignored.
