CA Workload Automation AE instance upgrade does not move past the database details page. The following message pops up.
sa_role has not been provided to the admin user

WAAE upgrade database sa_role error

We have validated that the "sa" Sybase ASE user does have the sa_role assigned.
$ isql -U sa -P <sa_password> -S <ASE_Server>
1> sp_displayroles sa
2> go
 Role Name

CA Workload Automation AE (WAAE) 11.3.6 SP[x] on UNIX/Linux.
SAP Sybase ASE Database.

The installer could not locate the isql command due to the lack of Sybase ASE environment information.

Source the Sybase ASE environment profile before invoking the CA WAAE installer (
