Resolution:

Use PUTTY and generate a new key using OpenSSH format.

Conversion->Import key (existing key) and export OpenSSH key versus using the previous .ppk format of the key.

If you have an existing key that's not being accepted and you see errors like:

Sep 11 10:11:11:682 [5336] rsp: authenticate: try to authenticate
Sep 11 10:11:11:722 [5336] rsp: authenticate: authenticate methods: 20
Sep 11 10:11:11:722 [5336] rsp: authenticate: trying to authenticate with public key
Sep 11 10:11:11:722 [5336] rsp: authenticate: public key authentication failed
Sep 11 10:11:11:723 [5336] rsp: Authentication failed: Invalid private key file.
Sep 11 10:11:11:723 [5336] rsp: authenticate: trying to authenticate with public key
Sep 11 10:11:11:723 [5336] rsp: authenticate: public key authentication failed
Sep 11 10:11:11:723 [5336] rsp: Error while authenticating host lxhq20480.kmtl.com : Invalid private key file.

Import the existing key in then export it out using OpenSSH format and use that key.

See Help doc for more information on using PUTTY to generate the key.
