Can you share with me in detail what the RHEL 6 EOL coverage is for gateways are, both the OS and the gateway?  What is the process for dealing with EOL of the provided OS?
Gateway OS support varies from form factor to form factor.  As of 9.3, we have the following support matrix:
  • Appliance form factor:
    • Hardware appliance:  RHEL6
    • Virtual appliance, AMI:  RHEL6, CentOS6
    • Azure image:  CentOS6
    • Container:  CentOS7
  • Software form factor:  RHEL 6/7, CentOS 6/7, SuSE Linux 11, Solaris 10
If the customer is using the appliance form factor, we do not support them upgrading the OS outside of our upgrades; our appliance is designed to be built and supported as a single unit (OS, database, Gateway application, all settings).  In the case of software, they are free to upgrade to any version that we support, at whatever cadence they want.
For the Appliance form factor we will also work towards having support for RHEL/CentOS 7 on other form factors, before the RHEL6 EOS date, to ensure that customers have something to migrate to.  Customers are responsible for migration of the product, but additional support can be purchased with our services team. We haven’t yet decided how long we want to support the 9.x version, but if we elect to support far past 2020 (RHEL 6 EOL) we may also consider obtaining extended support from RedHat for RHEL6, that would allow us to continue getting updates for a period of time.
