This document outlines methods for determining the DASD which is allocated to a particular database in IDMS. The allocated DASD is different than the amount of buffer space use, the amount of storage allocated at run time., etc.
If you are wanting to see the amount of DASD that is used by al the files in a specific database, there are two options available:
- Use the PRINT SPACE report. PRINT SPACE FOR SEGMENT <segment-name> FULL;
This will give the following as well as additional info for each AREA in the named Segment:
Total Space Allocated
Total Space Available (Percent)
Total Space Used
You would have to add all areas in the segment to get total for the segment, and you would have to do this for every segment that you were interested in.
- Use the DCMT DIS FILE command to get a list of datasets associated with the files for each segment (or for the files in which you are interested),
then use TSO to display the VTOC information for each one, including the allocated DASD. You'd have to tally these manually.
