Description:

Here is a list of Ports used by the BO Report Server for inbound/outbound communication between the Identity Manager Server, as well as from the BO Report Server to the CMS.

Solution:

For Complete Details on which ports are used between the Business Objects Server and the CMS see page 147 of the Business Objects Report Server Configuration and Deployment Guide here:

  1. What ports does BO to communicate to and from Identity Manager?

From Identity Manager there are two ports referred. Port # 6400 and the Business objects web application port #. For Tomcat, it usually is 8080(not the Identity Manager application server port #) , for Weblogic 7001 (not the Identity Manager application server port #) and websphere 9080(not the Identity Manager application server port #).

Note: these web server port #s are provided during the Business objects installation. So if you provided different port #s during the Business Objects installation, they should be referred. See an example of Tomcat webserver port #s you will provide when you install Business objects.

    Figure 1

It is important for you to note all the port #s you see during the installation of the Business objects.

  2. What ports need to be opened to the IDM server from BO?
None - Business Objects does not need to connect to the Identity Manager application server at any point (by design), so no port # needs to be referred here.

  3. Does the reporting server need the Oracle port open outbound?
If the snapshot database is using Oracle as its database, yes. Because, when we pass the database information from IM to BO, we pass the JDBC connection string which contains the database port # (for ex. for SQL Server 2005, the regular value is 1433 and for Oracle 1521). Again, if you are using different port numbers for your snapshot database connection, it should be provided.

  4. What port does the reporting web interface use?
For Tomcat, it usually is 8080(not the Identity Manager application server port #) , for Weblogic 7001 (not the Identity Manager application server port #) and websphere 9080(not the Identity Manager application server port #).

Note: These web server port #s are provided during the Business objects installation. So if you provided different port #s during the Business objects installation, they should be referred.
