Problem:

Selecting Configuration->RCA Topology Manager in the UMP I get the following: "Error connecting to server.  Please contact administrator".  How can I get this portlet functioning properly? Second error: "The elements you requested don't exist, or the group is empty, or you lack sufficient permission to view them."

Customer first referenced and followed the Article:  Howto - RCA and Topology Setup and the first error was resolved through proper configuration.

But then customer received the error:
"The elements you requested don't exist, or the group is empty, or you lack sufficient permission to view them."

Resolution:

As a test we configured the SNMP service on the relay where the discovery_agent was deployed.

In Discovery manager (Remote admin portlet) we added one IP address for the local relay 10.194.23.60. Once we did that and restarted the discovery_agent, we could see that 1 of 4 nodes was discovered by SNMP as per the discovery_agent log at log level 3.

We then cold started the topology_agent.

Then once we checked the RCA/Topology portlet again the 'elements' error was gone and the machine was displayed (10.194.23.60) in the topology view. Issue resolved.
