Issue:

When clicking on Save on a project's properties page, receive error INV0021: Planned Cost Finish date is earlier than Planned Cost Start date

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create a new project in MSP with one (or more tasks) with duration of 0.

(Important: In order to reproduce this issue, do not have any tasks in the project with any durations greater then 0)

2) Save the MSP file back to PPM.

3) Click Save on the project properties page.

Expected Results: Save is successful.

Actual Results: Save is not successful. Receive error: INV0021: Planned Cost Finish date is earlier than Planned Cost Start date when clicking save on project properties page.

Cause:

The project saved from MSP has duration of 0 day causing Planned Cost Start and Finish Date to fall on the same day and same time stamp. While MSP supports task duration of 0 day, PPM does not, so this can cause issues especially if no tasks have any duration greater then 0 day.

Resolution:

Ensure at least one task in the project has a duration greater than one day.

Instructions

CA Clarity PPM‘s smallest duration value is one day. It does not recognize duration down to the hour level. Microsoft Project‘s lowest level is hours and minutes.
