Question:

Getting RC 07 DATA AREA FULL on CADTCM_HISTORY_ADS . This table is an area daily statistics table supported in the history database DBID 1007 , AREA A01 (Multi-User startup card HISTORY ) . How to increase the size of this table?

Answer:

By default , this table has been defined with DYNAMIC-EXTEND turned on but when the maximum number of extents have been reached or when there is no more space available then an ADDIT to this table fails with a Datacom return code 07 .

You will need to follow this procedure in order to increase the size:

  1. Run DBUTLTY using SYSIN cards:
    COMM OPTION=CLOSE,DBID=1007ACCESS STATUS=OFF,DBID=1007,USERS=FAILREPORT AREA=CXX,DBID=1007BACKUP AREA=A01,DBID=1007,SEQ=PHY,RECID=YES,DDNAME=xxxxxx/*
  2. After a successful backup, rename your existing A0101007 dataset (look for Data Set name in that CXX report ) to Name.Old.
Then allocate a new larger dataset (with same data set name as before) and run
    DBUTLTYINIT AREA=A01,DBID=1007LOAD AREA=A01,DBID=1007,FORMAT=BACKUP,DDNAME=xxxxxx,SORT=99999ACCESS STATUS=WRITE,DBID=1007/*
  3. If that is OK then run DBUTLTY COMM OPTION=STATS. This will start the History task and will save the History records that were kept in MUF memory to disk.

  4. Delete that renamed History dataset Name.Old.
