Plan Security check failed

Question:

Upgraded to R19 and cancelling a Thread gets this message

PTT1130E UNAUTHORIZED REQUEST. PLAN SECURITY CHECK FAILED FOR PLAN PTTFPL19

What could be causing the problem?

Environment:
z/os DB2
Answer:

There is no change between R17 and R19 on how the authorization works for

Thread Terminator.

So for cancelling Threads it is the Userid in TT attempting to cancel a

thread needs authority to the Plan.

The Userid of the Xmanager Started Task also needs access to the plan but for other

processes.

So things to check

The message is saying PLAN PTTFPL19

Check that PTTFPL19 plan is bound to the DB2 you are trying to cancel the thread for.

Also check the PLANSxx member of the product CDBAPARM dataset, where xx is the suffix that

you use and is pointed to by whatever PTISYS member being read.

To make sure what plan name you have specified for PTTPLN03 which is used for Terminate Threads.

Each specific user trying to terminate threads needs execute authority for the Plan

pointed to by PTTPLN03.
