Issue:
We just implemented z/OS V2.3 on a test LPAR. We started getting the following messages:
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidA
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidB
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidC
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidD
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidE
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidF
CAS9899E Task nn Error: Unable to determine IP address for sysidG.

These messages were repeated several times following error messages such as:
CAS9PSPM- getaddrinfo failed resolving 'host name', errno = 1114
getaddrinfo error - RC: 1 (EDC9501I The name does not resolve for the supplied parameters.)
CAS9850I - CCI TCP/IP Host Name = 'host name'
CAS9850I - Port = port number, Addr = 0.0.0.0
Environment:
  • z/OS 2.3
  • Common Services r14.1 CCI component
Cause:
Unix wasn't completely set up before the new operating system was brought up
Resolution:
Set up Unix prior to implementing the new z/OS operating system
