Description:

I am running Policy Server on a Linux machine with a default Kerberos configuration at /etc/kerb5.conf which is read-only. Would you please advise me if I can manually create a kerb5.conf and configure the Policy Server to look for it in other directory?

Solution:

From documentation it states:

Configure a Kerberos configuration file (krb5.ini) and place it in the system root path on Windows and in /etc/krb5/ on UNIX.

Indeed, for kerberos services, the default conf file for:

windows: c:\winnt\krb5.ini
Linux: /etc/krb5.conf
Unix: /etc/krb5/krb5.conf

So, you will use the krb5.conf for your installation in Linux and Unix and krb5.ini for Windows.
