What to do when PGAdmin is unable to connect to the APM database and returns the message that the server is not listening.

PGAdmin is returning the message that the server is not listening. Trying the following does not resolve the issue:

  • Adding 5432 to TESS iptables and doing a services restart.
  • Uncommenting 5432 from postgres.conf, which is listening to all IP addresses.

This is not a problem with CEM, but with a third-party tool. Refer to the links below on "How Do I Enable Remote Access to PostgreSQL database server to troubleshoot the issue?"

The two key steps are:

  • Add a host all line /var/lib/pgsql/data/pg_hba.conf to allow access for the particular subnet.
  • Restarting iptables /etc/init.d/iptables restart.
