When a user specifies a leading asterisk in the Report Name filter, the display of the report list may be very slow if the database has many (millions) of reports. This not only impacts the single user, but impacts performance of the product for all users.
With the application of RO04522 and RO04523 ADMIN OPTION TO LIMIT ID FILTER Part 1 and Part 2, the administrator may now control the specification of a leading asterisk in the Report Name Filter by a setting in the Admin Tool CA Output Management Web Viewer r11 SP1 plus Hiper apar RO04057 and the rollup maintenance RO04441 are pre-requisites. The admin may now specify the following actions if a leading asterisk is specified in the Report Name Filter:

Leading asterisk is allowed with no error or warning. This is the current functionality.
This is the default setting.
- Warn on leading asterisk
A warning is issued and the user may continue
- Disallow leading asterisk
An error message is issue and the user cannot specified a Report Name Filter beginning with an asterisk.
NOTE: This does not apply to asterisk by itself, i.e. Report Name = *.
