Introduction

In a multi-server UMP installation, you might see issues with the syncing of newly created pages where pages created on one UMP instance are not reflected in the other UMP instance(s) and vice versa unless a synchronization is enforced. This can happen by either restarting the wasp probes or the new pages created on for example UMP 1 will only be synced to UMP2 when you also created a new page there.

In this scenario,, you will normally not see any error messages in the logs, and all other UMP functions may work fine. ?

Procedure

You can use the following test to determine whether you are facing issues with multi-casting between the UMP host machines. If the multi-cast tests fail, ?you would need to check with your network or Firewall team where in your environment the multi-cast calls are being blocked. The firewall admin will have to inspect the logs.

Note: Multi-caste is REQUIRED when doing multi UMP installation | configuration, please ensure multi-caste is enabled on UMP host machines

Please follow these steps:

? Ensure wasp is deactivated on all systems.?
? Download JGroups version 2.8.1.GA jgroups-all.jar from?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/javagroups/files/JGroups/2.8.1.GA/
? Copy jgroups-all.jar to the Desktop of the primary and secondary UMP system.?

? On the primary UMP system:

o Open a Command Prompt?
o Set the JAVA_HOME variable with the following command?
(adjust for your actual JRE location):?
set JAVA_HOME="c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7"?
o Start the JGroups receiver:?
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java -cp Desktop\jgroups-all.jar org.jgroups.tests.McastReceiverTest -mcast_addr 239.255.0.1 -port 23311?

? On the secondary UMP system:

o Open a Command Prompt?
o Set the JAVA_HOME variable with the following command (adjust for your actual JRE location):?
set JAVA_HOME="c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7"?
o Start the JGroups sender:?
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java -cp Desktop\jgroups-all.jar org.jgroups.tests.McastSenderTest -mcast_addr 239.255.0.1 -port 23311?
o Type a message?

? On the primary UMP system:?
o Confirm the message was received?

If you do not receive a message on the primary UMP, the multi-cast test has failed and you need to review your environment as suggested above.
