Introduction:

Performance issues in NetVoyant can be caused by a variety of reasons.  Many of these can be found in the Release Notes (https://support.ca.com/cadocs/0/CA%20NetQoS%20NetVoyant%207%201%20%20and%20service%20packs%20-ENU/Bookshelf_Files/HTML/NV_ReleaseNotes71SP7.html).  Please note that 55,000 polled and 140,000 discovered poll instances per poller is the suggested limit listed in this document.

Below are listed a couple of others that have been found to cause performance issues.

Environment:

NetVoyant 7.1

Other items to review:

1. Check your mysql51 error log.

a. This file can be found in here: {installdirectory}NetQoS\MySql51\data

b. Look for the *.err file.

c. If this file is large (100+MB), you can stop the MySQL51 service, rename the file, and restart the service.

d. You may want to contact support for the reason that the .err file is large, but this should help improve performance on the server.

2. Check the size of your event logs.

a. You can run the following commands:

mysql -e "select count(*) from nms2.event_log"

mysql -e "select count(*) from nms2.event_values"

b.  If either of those commands return values over 10,000,000, you may want to contact support to investigate.  They can determine why this number may be high and work to remove old events.
