Description:

MTP TIM has these frequent messages in the TIM log file, "ignored because it is not handled by this worker."

Solution:

For a MTP TIM, these messages are frequently seen in the timlog.txt files:

Trace: w4: [client_ip]:client_port->[server_ip]:server_port ignored because it is not handled by this worker

  • There are 16 worker processes and when a new connection is opened between the client & the web server, then a specific worker starts processing the data packets for that connection.
  • The allocated worker will then remain latched to that connection throughout the complete Business Transaction instance.
  • All workers will generate the above message when they see packets for a connection that is already allocated to another worker, so this is working as designed and not something to be concerned about.

For further information of the worker process load balancing please see KB article TEC1419067: MTP TIM worker process load balancing via the balancer.cnf file configuration.
