TDM MPS - Drop Down Issue

Issue:
In Test Data Manager (TDM), users may want to have a wild card capability in the drop-down option of the self service catalog.For example, there may be a desire to specify a tester type ‘006’ and click ‘FIND DATA’ button, to show all the account records that have Services which begin with '006'.                           

If the above is not the way to accomplish this, what is the correct method?

TDM 4.5

Cause:
Using '006*' as a mask would be a normal way to accomplish this, but it did not work. There is a problem in the product code which prevents this from working. 
Resolution:
Putting in '006%' returns all the possible solutions. To make this work requires a new config.xml in the Fast Data Maker's folder. To find this file, navigate to the FastDataMaker installation directory (by default it is under "C:\Program Files\Grid-Tools\FastDataMasker").

When initially implemented, there was an issue in that the substring filtering was not allowed.  To fix this, do the following:
  • Disable Dropdown filter (you will see the old text input where you can search by substring.)
  • To disable dropdown, please do the following:
    • Go to F&R model wizard page "Find & Reserve Model: Select Data Elements".
    • Edit individual fields.
    • Uncheck "Use Drop-down filter".
    • Save changes.
To obtain the latest config.xml file which contains a fix for this, either contact CA Support and request this file specifically OR obtain the latest FDM version after 21AUG18 and verify that the latest config.xml is in the patch.
