Introduction:

 In this scenario, the communication between Oracle Weblogic and Oracle GridLink data source is not using JDBC connections. So it cannot be monitored by the SQLAgent of the Java Agent.

Question:

How can we monitor connection information between Oracle Weblogic and Oracle GridLink data source using the CA APM Java Agent ?

Environment:
Information recorded for 9.1.6 agent, JRockit 1.6 but considered to be valid for any agent release.
Answer:

The data can be obtained from Weblogic MBeans. This is a suggestion of the filter to obtain the data:

introscope.agent.jmx.filter=JDBCDataSourceRuntime*:LeakedConnectionCount,JDBCOracle*:ActiveConnectionsCurrentCount,JDBCOracle*:ReserveRequestCount,JDBCDataSourceRuntime*:FailedReserveRequestCount,JDBCOracle*:ConnectionsTotalCount,JDBCOracle*:CurrCapacity,JDBCOracle*:NumAvailable

Additional Information:

 When the above suggestion does not help, use alternative tools like JConsole and/or run the application in test with an empty JMX filter to find most suitable metrics.
