Question:

Do you have a document for migrating an existing Oracle 11g database to 12c for WAAE r11.3.6 as we would like to keep all the job history information?

Environment:
Workload Automation AE 11.3.xPlatform - ANYDatabase - Oracle
Answer:

Method #1

Create the AEDB database in your new Oracle database.

You can do so by running the createaedb script.

See the following link for details:

https://docops.ca.com/ca-wla-ae-wcc/11-4-2/en/installing/ae-implementation/set-up-the-database-manually/run-the-createaedb-script-for-oracle-in-interactive-mode

Stop WAAE and use the autobcp utility to copy the data from your existing DB to to new DB.

See the following link for details:

https://docops.ca.com/ca-wla-ae-wcc/11-4-2/en/administrating/ae-configuration/maintain-the-event-server/configure-ca-workload-automation-ae-to-run-in-dual-event-server-mode

Update the $AUTOUSER/config.$AUTOSERV to reflect the new EventServer connection string and restart WAAE.

Method #2

Stop WAAE

Ask the DBA to export the autosys and aedbadmin users from the existing database along with all their objects / schema.

Indexes, tables, functions, public synonyms, etc...

Import them into the new Oracle database.

Update the $AUTOUSER/config.$AUTOSERV to reflect the new EventServer connection string and restart WAAE.

Notes:

Make sure that the WAAE machine can connect to the new target Oracle db.

While WAAE does support using an Oracle 12 database, WAAE still requires an Oracle 11 (32bit) client on the machine to be used for connecting to the database.
