Question:

The LDAP sever directory, configured specifically to keep only DE users, has many defined however the Desktop Client does not retrieve all of them. What gives?

Answer:

You might not see all LDAP users in Desktop Client from the LDAP server directory if some user names  do not follow the limits:

  • User name must not exceed 128 alphanumeric characters
  • The first character must be alphabetic (a-z or A-Z) or numeric (0-9)
  • The remaining characters can be alphanumeric plus the special characters commercial at (@), dollar sign ($), underscore (_), and hyphen (-)

If the user names do not follow these limits, the Desktop Client considers those names as invalid and does not retrieve them from the configured LDAP directory.
