Getting error "Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported." on launching any APM installer.

When installing with any CA APM installer, the following error message appears:


"Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported

The installer cannot run in this UI mode.  To specify the interface mode, use the -i command-line option followed by the UI mode identifier.  The valid UI modes identifiers are GUI, Console, and Silent."


Windows 2012 R2 with Any supported Agent/EM installer.

  This problem is related to a known Microsoft Windows compatibility issue. 


To work around this issue, set the compatibility mode for the installation executable. This can be done by right clicking on the .exe file in Windows Explorer.

Option A 

1. Select "Properties".  
2. Navigate to the Compatibility Tab and select the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option.
3. Set it to another Windows version.
4. Click Apply and then OK.   

For example:


You can now relaunch the installer.


Option B 

1. Select 'Troubleshoot compatibility'.
2. Then choose 'Troubleshoot program' and 'The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now'.


3. In the next window, choose the appropriate Windows version:


4. Then click 'Test the program'.


You can now relaunch the installer.
