After upgrading to CA Top Secret 12.0, the LASTUSED stats are only updated once a day. Why?
in CA Top Secret 12.0, there is a new control option called LUUPDONCE which causes LASTUSED stats to only be updated once a day by default. This change was made to improve performance. To revert back to the old way of updating LASTUSED stats, specify the control option LUUPDONCE(NO).
Setting LUUPDONCE(NO) will significantly affect performance in two situations:
- If the security file is shared and CACHE is in use.
- If SECCACHE is in use, regardless of whether or not the file is shared.
Performance with LUUPDONCE(NO) should be comparable to performance in previous releases of CA Top Secret. Looking at this in another way, the default of LUUPDONCE(YES) significantly improves the performance of CACHE when sharing the security file or when using SECCACHE.
If LUUPDONCE(NO) is set, then the facility options will be used, which is most likely how this was working prior to 12.0. Since LUUPDONCE(YES) is the default, it overrides any facility settings. (The facility control options are LUUPD or NOLUUPD).
Please see the CA Top Secret Control Options Guide for more information regarding the LUUPDONCE control option.
