Description:

CA Log Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS (PLA) is returning the following warnings processing a LOB object:

LAE0098W 5 update(s) were discarded during DML Activity reporting.
Log records are discarded whenever incomplete row images or data
formatting errors prevent log analyzer from determining if the log
record meets your selection criteria. A log record may also be
discarded if log analyzer is unable to format the column data needed
to build a LOAD output format record or REDO/UNDO SQL statement.

The DISCARD file returned the following:

The updates described below were discarded, and are not included in the
generated DML Activity REPORT or SQL/LOAD file. Log records are discarded
whenever incomplete row images or data formatting errors prevent log analyzer
from determining if the log record meets your selection criteria. A log
record may also be discarded if log analyzer is unable to format the column
data needed to build a LOAD output format record or REDO/UNDO SQL statement.

NOTE: If you were generating REDO/UNDO SQL, some of the updates described in this report may be included in your SQL file in the form of partial SQL statements.

Solution:

A LOB tablespace must be specified with parameter LOGGED, otherwise the log does not contain records of type LOB DATA PAGE CHANGE which holds the LOB data and PLA cannot reconstruct the full row image, independently on statement type (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE).
