JWP will not start with an "Error converting plugin" stack trace

Issue:
JWP will not start from command line and no corresponding log file is created. The command line prints the following stack trace:

Exception in thread "main" org.osgi.framework.BundleException: Error converting plugin at /data/automic/current/automationengine/bin/configuration/0/org.eclipse.osgi/bundles/1/1/bundlefile.

Caused by: org.eclipse.osgi.service.pluginconversion.PluginConversionException: Could not find a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF, plugin.xml or a fragment.xml in /data/automic/current/automationengine/bin/configuration/0/org.eclipse.osgi/bundles/1/1/bundlefile.

Caused by: java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file
at java.util.zip.ZipFile.open(Native Method)
at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(ZipFile.java:225)
Cause:
Files in the AutomationEngine/bin/plugins folder have become corrupt. 
Resolution:
Replace the plugins folder with a fresh set of binaries from the downloads center, or from a backup.
