Job A has an external predecessor which must be completed before Job A can be completed but the external predecessor dependency is ignored and Job A runs before the external predecessor.

Investigation

To further investigate this issue, Applications Manager (AM) will need to be upgraded to version 9.1.2 or higher, as additional debug information was added that will allow Automic to further investigate the issue.

Within AM v9.1.2, the dump predecessor debug can be enabled with the setting -DdumpPredecessors=true.  This new option will give Automic more information regarding the predecessor and what could potentially cause the above scenario to occur. The information will be written to the RmiServer logs.

Enabling dump predecessor debugging.

  • Edit the sosite file in the AW_HOME site sub-directory and add the following line:
START_OPTION_RMI=-DdumpPredecessors=true; export START_OPTION_RMI

Environment:
OS Version: N/A
Cause:
Cause type:
Other
Root Cause: Not enough information to determine root cause, -DdumpPredecessors=true debugging has been added to version 9.1.2 to further troubleshoot why the predecessor fails occasionally.
Resolution:

Upgrade to Applications Manager 9.1.2 or higher and enable RmiServer debug, in addition to the new debug setting (listed in the description section) to capture the event.

Afterward, create an incident with Automic Support and provide the RmiServer logs.
