The port that needs to be used for the jboss connection is normally 1099 but if you are having trouble with the connection you must confirm the port number:

In bindings-jboss-beans.xml:

jboss/server/web/conf/bindingservice.beans/META-INF/bindings-jboss-beans.xml
web is the "configuration" (could be all/default/minimal/production/standard/web in JBoss 5 EAP)
You specify which configuration to use at startup with the ?-c? flag.
Ex.

jboss/bin/run.bat ?c standard

Contents of bindings-jboss-beans.xml that sets the port for the JNDI Naming service:
<snip>
<!-- Base binding metadata that ServiceBindingStore uses to create bindings for each set -->
<bean name="StandardBindings" class="java.util.HashSet">
<constructor>
<parameter class="java.util.Collection">
<set elementClass="org.jboss.services.binding.ServiceBindingMetadata">
<!-- ********************* conf/jboss-service.xml ****************** -->

<!-- Naming Service -->
<bean class="org.jboss.services.binding.ServiceBindingMetadata">
<property name="serviceName">jboss:service=Naming</property>
<property name="bindingName">Port</property>
<property name="port">1099</property>
<property name="description">The listening socket for the Naming service</property>
</bean>
<snip>

In this case it was a slightly different port number.
