Java UI results in errors when accessed

When a Java User Interface (UI) error is encountered, the problem can have different appearances, but common points are:
  • The Java UI cannot be opened, but it does not affect all users.
  • There are no entries in UI or Server logs.
  • After clicking OK in the login dialog, nothing happens or different error messages are displayed, for example:
    • U4002598 Fehler = ' in main [AWT-EventQueue-0] : DefaultUncaughtExceptionHandler' UNKNOWN
    • U00020568 Runtime error in object 'XWINDOWS(GET)', line '0017'. DS return code: 'U01001940': 'U01001940 Line 1: element 'LIST': start tag syntax error'. Error occurred in UCDSFUN at position: 'DS_DB2XML_INIVAL6'.

Root Cause: Error in the GUI's configuration data in the table ini
Resolution:
The configuration data of affected users has to be deleted from the table INI. For this, SQL-Statements can be given.

As such statements should only be executed in accordance with Automic Support, please open an incident at Automic Support and reference this Known Error.

After deleting, the user's settings are lost. It affects font settings, windows size and position and settings made in the Java UI options. Everything stored in the user object of the affected user is not touched such as password, mail-address, privileges and access rights.
