Question:

Other than running SMP/E reports against the CSI or producing hex dumps of a module, is there a way to tell quickly the maintenance level of a Datacom load module?

Answer:

Starting with CA Datacom/DB and CA Datacom/AD Version 12.0, each PTF or APAR is a load module replacement and includes the RMID value.

To quickly determine the level of the module, browse the load module and find "RMID(".

For a base level module with no maintenance applied, the value will be "RMID(RESERVE)".

As maintenance is applied, the RMID value with show the current level "RMID(xxnnnnn)"

where "xx" is the "RO" for a published fix or "TR" for a test fix that has not yet been published;
where "nnnnn" is the fix number.

Note: Each PTF or APAR is a load module replacement that supersedes (SMP/E SUP) the cumulative fixes included. It is possible that the RMID(xxnnnnn) number "nnnnn" will not always increase, so a higher RMID number does not always imply a higher level of maintenance.
