Introduction:

Customer has copied several default CA reports (CA Reports -> CA Spectrum -> Alarm -> Group) into new folders. Now, he would like to customize these reports so they can be scheduled to run always with the same Global Collection parameter.

Question:

Is there a way to initialize the "WKP_GlobalCollection" parameter?

From CMC if you look at the Default Settings -> Prompts of a specific CA Reports -> CA Spectrum -> Alarm -> Group report eg. "Alarm Activity By User: Group" you will see that the parameter "WKP_GlobalCollection" has a Default Value of [EMPTY].

Now, this field accepts only a numeric parameter.

Where can I find the numeric value that corresponds to my Global Collection?

Answer:

You can get the numeric value of your Global Collection from the reporting database.

Run the following mysql query on the reporting database...

1) bash -login

2) cd mysql/bin

3) mysql uroot -proot reporting

mysql> select * from globalcollection;

In the output the column "gc_rec_ID" contains the numeric values of your Global Collections.

Initialize the WKP_GlobalCollection parameter to the "gc_rec_ID" value, then save and re-login to CA Business Intelligence.
