Introduction:

Is the DBOLOAD DD statement still required?

Question:

If a DBOLOAD DD statement is coded in the JCL, IMS-Tools products will always look to it for programs, such as IMSHRINK, before going to the STEPLIB libraries. If a more current version of a program were to be loaded into a STEPLIB library, that is also located in your DBOLOAD library, the most current version will not be picked up at execution. Is the DBOLOAD DD statement still required?

Environment:

Answer:

The recommendation is; do not use the DBOLOAD DD statement in your JCL. It is an outdated use of the products that should not be referenced any more. All you need now is the STEPLIB concatenation with all your load libraries. Also use DFSRESLB which will
point to the APF-authorized IMS RESLIB which is the same setup as all IMS jobs.
