Is it possible to copy Dynam/T controlled IDCAMS multi-file tapes to a VTL (Virtual Tape Library) System?

Question:

We have replaced our tape robot with a VTL (Virtual Tape Library). Although some tapes with a long retention have been successfully copied to the VTL, there are some multi-file volumes with multiple IDCAMS catalog backups we have not been able to copy.

Is there a CA Dynam/T Utility which can be used to copy this volumes ?

Answer:

NO, "For several reasons there is no CA Dynam/T Utility to do this Copy"

But, a possibility to do this can be:

A secured way to achieve what you want to do is to restore the backups (eventually on a temporary catalog) back to a disk and than "back it up again using the new devices".The problem is not PIOCS, but the fact that there are embedded "TM" (Tapemarks) in the middle of data's.
