Introduction:
PAM is deployed by default using the network adapter type E1000. This is not possible to be changed when starting the deployment.
It has to be done once the PAM server is installed.

This document explains a way to change the network adapter from E1000 to VMXNET in PAM without inconveniences.
This is supported in release 3.0.2 and ahead.

Question:
We are running a VMWare 6.5 environment and it is recommended to use the VMWare VMXNET adapters as network adapters of the virtual machines. Is it possible to change the PAM 3.X Appliances to a VMXNET network adapter instead of the E1000?
Environment:
PAM 3.X
Answer:
This can be done as follows.

Important: Copy the MAC Address of current Network Interface. You are going to need it.
  1. Turn PAM server OFF.
  2. Add a new Network Adapter where its Type is VMXNET 3.
  3. Edit the MAC Address of the new adapter and use the one you copied from the current network interface.
Note: The mac address has to be the same used at the beginning because the license is associated to it.
  1. Finally remove the old network adapter or change its MAC address.
