Is it possible to attach Closed or Inactive Incidents to Active problems and at the same time restrict the users from Editing Closed Incidents?

To restrict users from editing Closed Incidents, the option "Edit_Inactive" should be installed with a value of "No".   However, with this option installed, when an attempt is made to attach a Closed Incident to an Active Problem, the following error message is displayed:

AHD04642:Failed to add child: INVALID No Message Available

Both the requirements cannot be met together. You can only have one - 

  1. Either restrict the users from Editing the Closed incidents by installing the EDIT_INACTIVE Option,

    OR
     
  2. Allow Closed Incidents to be attached to the Active Problems by de-installing EDIT_INACTIVE Option. 

Note: A "Closed" ticket (such as an Incident or a Problem) is an "Inactive" ticket; a ticket that is not Closed is "Active".
