Question:

Is it possible to associate a Sub-Object to an Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS)?

We are not able to find the sub-objects in the "Objects" lookup when we try to associate a OBS to sub-object in the application.

We go to Administration, OBS and on the OBS Properties page, in the Associated Objects, we cannot 'Add' a Sub-Object.  It it not listed in the lookup.

We want to have the ability to associate an OBS Unit on the Sub Object.

Answer:

The Sub Object shall inherit the parent Object OBS Unit.

This is why it is not available in the configuration to select on the OBS Association page.

Regular (non-financial) OBS Units are not available for creating a 'virtual' attribute on the sub-object to display on a page view, but the 'Department Id' field (which is a financial OBS) is available for selection.

This means that if you want to display an OBS Unit on the sub-object page view, the only OBS Unit that can be shown is the Department ID value as a Virtual Attribute configured on the sub-object.
