Is it possible to add the 'affected_service' field to the CA Business Intelligence (CABI) Universe so that it can be included in CABI reports?

Not all MDB fields are represented in the CABI Universe. Since the 'affected_service' field is not included within the OOTB CABI Universe, it needs to be manually created within a Derived Universe.

Perform the following steps to add the affected_service field:

NOTE:If a Derived Universe does not yet exist, follow the steps in "Chapter 10: CA Business Intelligence Universe and Designer" of the CA Business Intelligence for CA Service Desk Manager Greenbook ( for steps to create a Derived CABI Universe

  1. On the CABI server select Start->Programs->Business Objects XI 3.1-> Business Objects Enterprise->Designer

  2. Import the Derived CABI Universe.

  3. Expand the Incident folder.

  4. Expand the Incident Detail folder.

  5. Right-click the Incident Detail folder and select Object.

  6. Create the following objects:

    Affected Service



    Now you will see this attribute added in the left side for the incident detail object folder.

  7. Export the Derived CABI Universe. Access CABI Infoview and check if the "affected_service" attribute is visible.
