Introscope - SOI integration Checklist, unable to see introscope alert in the SOI console

Answer:

1: Verify the APM Connector configuration:

Go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\resources\Configurations folder
Open APM_<em_ip>.xml
Check the below properties:
- EMHost= is the IP address or fully qualified name of the MOM / Standalone EM. In this example: 192.168.101.130
- EMSNMPHostIPAddress= is the IP address or fully qualified name of the MOM / Standalone EM
- EMSNMPBindAddress= is the IP address or fully qualified name of the APM connector server. In this example: 192.168.101.189

2. Enable TRACE logging

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\resources\Configurations\log4j\
Open APM_log4j.xml
Change Logger level from INFO to TRACE:

3: Check that SNMP Alert action has been configured correctly:

Launch the Workstation
Open the Management Module editor:
Open the SNMP Alert Action. If doesn't exist you need to create a new one.
Make sure:
- SNMP Destination hostname = is the IP address or fully qualified name of the APM connector server. In this example: 192.168.101.189
- EM and MOM IP addresses = is the IP address or fully qualified name of the MOM / Standalone EM. In this example: 192.168.101.130

4. Validate the communication between the EM and the APM connector:

- On the Workstation side:
Open the SNMP Alert Action, click the "Test Now!" button.

- On the APM Connector side:
Open C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\log\APM_connector.log, you should see the below messages that indicating that the trap sent by the EM has been received correctly

5. Create a test real simple alert and configure it with the SNMP Alert action

Go to the APM Connector server, open the C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\log\APM_connector.log, you should see the below messages, indicating that the alert has been received correctly. In this example, the agent name is "UnnamedAgent"

6. Create a new test Service and validate the alerts

Go to the SOI console, click Tools, create a new Service:

Go to Computer System > Running Software.
Right click the agent, select “Add with sub-components”:

Give a name to the new Service, then click Save

Wait for an alert in the SOI console:
