Question:
What is the difference between Internet Service Retrieval and e-delivery at CA, and are either the same as the IBM SMP/E process?

Questions arises from reviewing the Mainframe Common Maintenance documentation on docops here
https://docops.ca.com/mainframe-common-maintenance/en

and especially the subsection on Internet Service Retrieval here
https://docops.ca.com/mainframe-common-maintenance/en/configure-ca-smp-e-internet-service-retrieval

Answer:
This link on our website contains a full explanation.
https://www.ca.com/en/blog-highlight/our-early-new-years-toast-to-you-maintenance-delivery-made-easy.html?mrm=425878&cid=GLOB-SMM-ABUS-AAR-000002-00000571-000000024&utm_source=Direct

As an overview it states
"As part of our ongoing Mainframe strategy, CA Technologies now offers a new maintenance delivery service: CA SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval. This new delivery method uses the IBM SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER command to acquire CA Mainframe product maintenance over the internet by securely submitting an order for PTFs and HOLDDATA to a remote CA Technologies server."

Following the directions in this manual
https://docops.ca.com/mainframe-common-maintenance/en/configure-ca-smp-e-internet-service-retrieval
tell you how to set it up and should make life easier when it comes to applying maintenance.

Another link about e-delivery
https://docops.ca.com/mainframe-common-maintenance/en/blog/2017/12/new-mainframe-maintenance-delivery-service

says the same thing.
"As part of our ongoing Mainframe strategy, CA Technologies now offers a new maintenance delivery service: CA SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval. This new delivery method uses the IBM SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER command to acquire CA Mainframe product maintenance over the internet, by securely submitting an order for PTFs and HOLDDATA to a remote CA Technologies server....."

So e-delivery and CA SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval are the same thing, and are utilizing the IBM SMP/E process.
