Problem:

InternalAlarm: Unable to get CPU data (error) after latest OS patches

You may run into a problem with CDM probe after updating Solaris system to the latest O/S patches

This is an example of defunct processes spawned.
[root@xxxxxxx]# ps -ef | grep cdm
root 27127 27109 0 10:18:03 pts/2 0:00 grep cdm
root 2030 1728 0 Jul 16 ? 0:15 nimbus(cdm)
[root@xxxxxxx]# ptree 2030
1727 ./nimbus /opt/CA
1728 nimbus(controller)
2030 nimbus(cdm)
23313 <defunct>
16897 <defunct>
2180 <defunct>
10498 <defunct>
22709 <defunct>
26701 <defunct>

Resolution:

If you run into this issue following the 4 step process below:

1. Deactivate the probe.
2. Kill all defunct processes.
3. Change “mem_buffer_used” key to yes (via raw configure in setup section).
4. Click Apply/Ok.
5. Activate the probe if necessary as a config change will normally restart the probe.

Raw configure is accessed by highlighting the probe and right clicking.
