This document outlines the steps necessary to install the SQL Web Connect feature for CA IDMS v18.5, and to activate the limited SQL access that it provides.

Solution:

In order to implement the SQL Web Connect feature on CA IDMS v18./5, it is not necessary to install the SQL product. However you must have the CA LMP Seat License Registration Service installed on your system to use the SQL Web Connect feature. The Common Services releases that contain the Seat License Registration Service are:

  • CCS r12 with PTF RO40748
  • CCS r14.0 with PTF RO33298
  • CCS r14.1 (or greater)

Although you do not install the full SQL option on your IDMS mainframe, you must create an SQL Catalog for your system to use SQL Web Connect. In addition, you must install the CA IDMS Server. For v18.5, new installation Varblist parameters are provided which will create an SQL catalog as part of a base or upgrade install. You can find details on the actual installation process for IDMS Server and SQL usage (including creation of a catalog) in the IDMS 18.5 Installation manual, chapter 6 SQL Web Connect; instructions are provided both for manual installation and for an install using Chorus Software Manager (CSM).
